Peonia Erbacea

Single flower and anemone shaped lactifloras

This category conventionally includes all the varieties of single flowered Paeonia lactiflora and those peonies whose genetic selection brought to the partial or complete disappearance of the stamens. The latter are commonly called Japanese peonies or also anemone-shaped flower Peonies.

The single flowers are light rose at blooming and then fade into white; the stamens are bright yellow. The petals are lightly curled and deckle-edged. Strong scent. Free flowering and robust plant. Mid-season flowering

‘Opal Hamilton’ (Nicholls-Wild, 1957):

The anemone-shaped flowers have a crown of pale lavender petals and a center of slender petals of a darker shade with gold and red fades. Sometimes it gives some double flowers. Resistant medium sized plant. Mid-season flowering.

‘Santa Fe’ or 'Gay Paree' (Auten 1938):

Also known as ‘Gay Paree’, it has a Japanese flower: a cup of fuchsia petals and rose-vanilla petaloids. This medium sized, free flowering plant is very strong and resistant to harsh conditions. Early flowering .
